Charity

For every book purchased, 10% of the royalties are donated at the end of each month to Sarah Jane Weldon's UK registered, environmental and STEM education charity Oceans Project. The charity was founded by Sarah and a small group of young people in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia in 2010, whilst Sarah was working on educational reform with the Government of Georgia and the Ministry for Education and Science. The charity provides free, online education to over 100,000 young people aged 5-25 worldwide each year, in particular those with no access to formal education due to poverty, gender, war, natural disaster, or disability. The charity also works closely with Earthwatch towards the provision of fully funded places for teens worldwide to take part in citizen science expeditions. Sharing their experiences with their peers upon their return home, and by connecting with schools via Skype in the Classroom live from their expedition.

If you are aged between 15-18 and would like to go on an Earthwatch Teen expedition, or know of a young person that might benefit, please contact Earthwatch directly and ask about the Oceans Project (Sarah Jane Weldon) fund. This was created to cover the cost of the expedition, as well as flights and travel, insurance, visas, passport, and expedition kit. It is entirely funded by royalties from you reading Sarah's books and from donations to Sarah's annual birthday fund. You will be able to see blog posts, photos, and field notes from the teens on the blog here from time to time, with updates via the Facebook group, and newsletter. This funding pot is expected to grow over time, the more books that Sarah has published.

Sarah's Annual Birthday Fund

Oceans Project does not generally accept donations from the public as it was setup to generate and receive passive income from royalties of Sarah's books, Sarah's Shutterstock photos, YouTube and Amazon video views, affiliate commission from Amazon (raised through clicks to Amazon from this website), and from UK residents shopping on Amazon.UK via Amazon Smile. However, donations can be made annually on Facebook to celebrate Sarah's birthday on the 16th November.
Wish Sarah a Happy Birthday by Making a Donation to Oceans Project
