I don't know about you, but this lockdown has not been kind on my waistline (along with a sedentary writer's life!). So how about a bit of a virtual challenge, just for fun, to get us all moving. I do plan to swim the English Channel from England to France at some point, but right now the local pool is still closed, so instead, over the course of the next week, I'm committing to 'walk' the same distance (21 miles) by working out to Leslie Sansone's indoor walking videos on YouTube each day. My goal is to walk 3 miles a day, for the next 7 days and I'm signing up for the challenge here. If you fancy joining me on a bid to get a bit more active, then the more the merrier, and I'm going to work my way through all of their challenges over the coming year, building up my fitness and distance each day as I go. You don't have to walk. You might want to swim, run, or cycle, you choose, or you could do a mix, and you can either enter the data manually onto the website, or if you have a Fitbit, Applewatch, or any other kind of tracker, you can use that too. The cost for this challenge is £24 ($29) for which you get your virtual postcards, plus a nice medal in the post once you complete the challenge. The other thing I really like, is that they will plant a tree (at no extra cost to you) for each 20% of the challenge that you complete. I don't know about you, but for me that in itself will motivate me to get my one hour of walking (3 miles) in per day before I hit my writing desk. I should also add that I'm not in any way sponsored or affiliated with the company, I've never used them before, I just saw the challenge today and thought that it looked to be the kick up the bum I needed to get focused and back on track with my daily routine. But, it might be that we could set up our own version of a trail one day, linked to cozy mysteries, maybe even for cozy mystery day, so that could be a lot of fun!
Let me know what you guys think, and if you decide to give it a go.
