Final Draft of Autumn Leaves
Download Autumn Leaves to Colour
This evening I managed to finish off my first draft of Autumn leaves, based on a patch of leaves I found on my walk around Rydal Water. I hope it isn't too shaded in to stop it being fun to colour in, but I would really love your feedback as always. Let me know what you like or don't like, and what you would give this page out of 5. One being the worst score and five being the best score. Not sure how I will augment this one yet, perhaps the sound of leaves when you walk on them, or maybe they will blow away or deteriorate, or have an oak tree grow through the dead leaves?? What do you think? I'll attach the file below for you to download and colour in the meantime and I would love to get your feedback and any photos of your finished pages, in the comments section below. Have a great weekend everyone.

Finished Draft of the Slug
Download, Colour, Review the Slug
I've always been a big fan of slugs, apart from when they eat my home grown veg and plants, but I find them really fascinating. Best of all they make ideal subjects for photography, slow moving and curious! And always in abundance. I love that they come in so many different colours and that they have these weird eyes on stalks....like little aliens from another planet, secretly ruling our world!
I spotted this shiny black slug on an old rotting tree right by the lake, close to lots of boss and boggy land. So I took a lot of photos of it, ready to share with the children I support through my charity Oceans Project, who don't have access to education because of things like gender, poverty, war, or disability. A lot of these children live in deserts and really hot places where there are no slugs, so I decided to draw some of my favourite ones as part of a kind of minibeasts project.
At first I had no idea how to draw a slug. I've only ever drawn cartoon type ones on the blackboard and as children's colouring pages before, but never a slug...I mean, what is there to actually draw apart from a blob of gloopiness! But I'm so glad that I gave it a go with this one, as it turned out to be a very therapeutic process, especially drawing in all the tiny dots and stripes on the skin, and I'm pleased with how it turned out. Much better than I could have hoped for.
Originally I was going to draw in more of the background, but I'm a huge believer that sometimes less is more, and I didn't want the slug to get lost on the page. It took an age to get finished!!!
I really hope that you will enjoy colouring this one, and I'm anxiously awaiting your feedback on what you think of it as a colouring page for adults. As always, please can you download the file using the free link below, colour the page in, and then leave me your feedback and any photos you have, in the comments section below. What score would you give this page out of five - 1 being the worst page ever, 5 being the best score possible. Is there anything you liked, disliked, or would change? Should it be included in the Rydal Water colouring book? When it comes to turning the page into an augmented reality colouring page, what would you like the picture to do? See the slug open its eyes? Move along the ground? Something else? What kinds of colouring pages do you prefer - landscapes, insects, birds, weather? Do you prefer it when a page has some white space left, or is it better to have the full page drawn on, or perhaps a mixture of colouring pages to suit your mood?

I spotted these really pretty black and yellow, soft winged beetles on some blossom on my walk around Rydal Lake this Spring. I thought I would have a go at drawing them and I'm pleased that I managed it without making the colouring page too complicated. I did however, forget to take some photos as I was drawing, but I would love for you guys to download the file and see how you get on with colouring it. What rating would you give this page out of 5, 1 being the worst score possible, 5 being the best. Anything you would like done differently? If the picture does make it into the augmented reality colouring book of Rydal Water, I think I will make the beetles move on the app. what do you think?
As always, you can download the colouring page below, and please do leave me a review and pictures of your finished colouring pages, in the comments section below. Have a great week everyone. xx

Rydal Church Finished Draft

I think I had commitment issues with this one, and a huge sense of self doubt as I thought I had perhaps bitten off more than I could chew!!! I've never attempted to draw a building before, especially one with so much repetition of bricks and trees. As a result the lines are all quite rough and timid still and a bit of a half effort. I was waiting to screw up the page as I drew every single mark on this page! But I'm really happy with the overall result and looking forward to re-drawing this one with some more confident and neater lines now that I know I can do it. I wasn't sure whether to draw in the grass and sky, but I hope that blank space is a good thing for the colorists to really add their own take on things. I'm still learning to draw clouds too so will need to work on that what with so many amazing skies in Britain, and of course the famous British weather!!
To not include Rydal Church in the Rydal Water colouring book would seem wrong, given what an important role it has played in the community throughout history, so I really hope that this one will make the grade. I'm especially looking forward to adding the sounds of the church bells to the augmented reality colouring page version. That will take a lot of coding and programming, but I think it will really be worth it once it is completed.
As always, I would really appreciate you taking the time to download this free colouring page, in return for beta testing it, and leaving your feedback and any photos of your colouring in the comments section below. On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the worst, 5 being the best, what would you score this page? Is there anything you would like to see changed??? Do you like having the blank space for the grass and sky or should I draw those in for colouring?
Happy colouring!! Sarah x

When I first thought about drawing this stone wall and gate on my walk around Rydal Water, I was worried that it would be really boring - why would anyone be interested in a wall and a gate? But when I thought about it more, it occurred to me that dry stone walls are something iconic, something associated with the Lake District and with the British countryside. To not at least include a wall or part of a wall somewhere in the book of Rydal Water seemed wrong somehow. I was really worried about how I would manage to draw such a picture, with all the perspective and depth and texture from the moss and lichens and hundreds of years of being exposed to Great British weather. But somehow it turned out OK, and I think you can see it is a wall and a gate. I don't know how it will be as a colouring page though - probably infuriating and fiddly! And I'm not completely happy with all the shapes as yet, but for a first draft I'm pleased I stuck with it.
What I need now is for you guys as colouring enthusiasts to download this page for me, using the link below, and to colour it in and see how you get on. Is it too complex for a colouring page, or do you like to have a selection of complex and less complex pictures in your colouring books, to give you something for every mood? Let me know how you get on as my trusted beta testers. Don't forget to give this page a mark out of five, one being the worst and five being the best. Only the high scorers will be in the final book and go on to be augmented reality. Not sure what that would be for this page, perhaps the gate will swing open and you will hear it squeak?

Finished DRaft of River Pebbles
Download the Colouring Page
If you take the footpath up the back of Rydal Water at the foot of Loughrigg and follow it up towards the quarry, you eventually come to a large stream with a small bridge over the top. The area is sloped and has some very nice trees and a really rocky footpath you have to scramble over. On rainy days the water runs down the grassy slope, under the trees, and into this little stream, and if you are really lucky, you might just catch a glimmer of sunlight as it bounces over the surface of the water and brings out the greys and browns of the pebbles below. I really wasn't sure how I would be able to draw this as a colouring page, but I figured it was worth a go, since looking at water reflecting on pebbles in streams is one of my most favourite things, especially when you hear the steady trickle of water bouncing over the stones. Whether it makes it into the final book is another matter, but I definitely want to include the sound of the stream and pebbles in the augmented reality version, and to try and capture the movement as the water runs over pebbles.
If you love to colour in, I would really appreciate you beta testing this colouring page. Tell me what you like and dislike about it, and what can be done to improve it. Should it be included in the augmented reality colouring book of Rydal Water? What score would you give it out of five, with one being the worst and five being the best?

FINISHED DRAFT OF THE MAYFLY
DOWNLOAD AND COLOUR THE MAYFLY
I spotted the mayfly on one of my walks with my dog Isla, close to the lilly pads of Rydal Water, in the roots of a fallen tree by the water. I didn't see it at first, but I was searching for some inspiration and balanced myself on a rock in the water to see what might be living in the roots. There it was, a freshly hatched Mayfly, wings still drying out, and next to it the old case it had lived in all this time. It was very beautiful with intricate patterns on the wings and a long tail. I wasn't even sure if I would be able to draw it, and it turned out as a more complex picture for colouring, maybe too difficult to colour in? I'm not even sure if it will be included in the final book yet, and I have no idea about how to add the augmented reality to it yet. Might have to use my imagination here, and have it fly off in the app version?
I would love it if you downloaded this page for your own use, coloured it in, and then let me know how you got on. What mark would you give this page out of five? One being the worst, five being the best. What would you change, and what would you like to see on the augmented reality version in the final book, if it makes it through the process. I would love you to beta test this page, download it for free on the file below, and share your feedback and any photos of your picture with me in the comments below.

FREE COLOURING PAGE TO DOWNLOAD
Today's augmented reality colouring page is called 'Lake Trees' and was inspired by my walk along the road along the length of Rydal Water. Spring isn't in full swing yet so the trees still look quite bare and naked and very pointy with their branches.
If you like to colour in pages, I would love for you to download this one as a beta tester and to give me your feedback. What would you score it out of 5, with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best? What should I change, and would you like to see it in the final colouring book? I'm not sure what augmented reality to add to this page as yet, it may be that I add some of the sounds I heard as I walked - sheep baa-ing, the wind, and the birds? The grasses rustling?
Download the file below for review purposes only, and don't forget to share your comments and coloured page with me when you have finished.

Download and Review the Colouring Page
For my second augmented reality colouring page of the Rydal Water colouring book I thought I would have a go at drawing some of the slate that I found on the ground by the quarry and caves. Not yet sure if it will make the final book, or how I will use the augmented reality to bring it to life. One idea is to record the sound that it made as I walked over it, or to include some information about the geology and history of the quarry and mining in the area.
As always I would love your feedback on whether this makes for an interesting colouring page or not. Let me know in the comments what you liked or disliked about this page, and what you would change to improve it. What things could I add to the augmented reality version if it makes it that far?
You can download the colouring page for free as a beta reviewer, but this is for personal use only, and I would love to get your feedback about the page. Thanks a million.

Not certain whether this one will make it into the final book or not yet, or what it will do once augmented - make a noise, maybe the clouds or the water will move, or maybe I will read a poem about the lake? But I would really appreciate your feedback if you love to colour in pictures.
